We were approached by the kidney society with the concept of the 'ultimate in recycling'. After-all, a kidney transplant is true cradle to cradle recycling in action. And walking the talk is what InterfaceNZ does. So coming on board from both a social and financial point of view was the right thing to do.
The Kidney Society Auckland is the only organization of its kind in NZ delivering professional support services to kidney patients and their families outside of the health service. By far the largest number of people with kidney failure live in the top half of the North Island. However the Kidney Society Auckland also helps other smaller kidney patient organizations in New Zealand through the provision of support, information and advice.
For 30 years the Kidney Society Auckland has supported thousands of people and their families touched by the ever changing, unpredictable and stressful health condition that is kidney failure. Its treatments, complications and ultimately shortened lifespan can seriously affect families in many ways. The kidney society currently supports and 'walks alongside' close to 1,300 clients, helping them to 'get on with life'.
